CRT Stakeholders and Friends, As we reported last month, legislation to stop Medicare from using Competitive Bidding information to cut payments for CRT wheelchair accessories as of January 1, 2016 has been introduced in the House of Representatives. The bill number is HR-3229 and was introduced by Representative Lee Zeldin (R-NY). More details on that issue can be found in the NCART Position Paper. Now that Congress is back in session from their August recess, your help is needed. We need CRT stakeholders to contact their Representatives to secure as many co-sponsors for the bill as soon as possible. To kick start the process, Representative Zeldin has sent out a Dear Colleague letter to all the members of the House of Representatives asking for support of the bill. You can share the Dear Colleague letter in your outreach. This will be a very busy time for Congress as we move through the weeks ahead so we need you to make this outreach to your Representative as soon as possible. You can begin by emailing your Representative using the tools at www.access2crt.org. There you will find background information and (most importantly) a link to email your Representative with your request. As we have said in the past, once you send the email your follow up is critical. You can call the Representative's office and ask to speak with the Healthcare Legislative Assistant and discuss your request directly with them. You want to continue your follow up until you get to "yes"! Thanks for taking action over the next several days. We'll keep you updated on the progress and please let us know if you require any assistance. Regards, Don Donald E.
