The National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology (NCART) is a national non-profit organization of suppliers and manufacturers of Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) products and services used by individuals with disabilities and chronic medical conditions. NCART seeks to ensure these individuals have adequate access to CRT products and supporting services. In pursuit of that goal, NCART works with consumers, clinicians, and physicians along with federal, state and private policymakers to establish and protect appropriate coverage, coding, funding and supplier standards policies.

CRT includes medically necessary and individually configured manual and power wheelchairs, seating and positioning systems, and other adaptive equipment such as standing devices and gait trainers. This specialized equipment requires evaluation, configuration, fitting, adjustment, or programming to meet the individual's medical needs and maximize function and independence. These products are designed to meet the specific and unique medical and functional needs of an individual with a primary diagnosis resulting from a congenital disorder, progressive or degenerative neuromuscular disease, or from injury or trauma.

We are looking for a special person that works well in a team environment to endure that state and federal policies are being followed so that individuals with disabilities are not denied access to CRT equipment. This person should have the hert of an advocate, determination to hold insurance payers responsible for meeting their obligations and understands that our focus is on the consumers who we serve.

Job Description Overview:

The individual is responsible for implementing and managing the NCART State Advocacy Program. The individual will monitor, analyze, report and work with a team of dedicated payer and regulatory professionals on legislative and regulatory issues. The individual will also build a team, develop, coordinate and lead NCART initiatives in various state to protect consumers access for CRT equipment.

Responsibilities:

Primary duties involve monitoring, analyzing, and reporting regarding State CRT issues and coordinating related advocacy activities. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitoring and tracking State CRT issues and any access issues that may arise
  • Conducting legislative and regulatory research and developing written analysis and other related materials
  • Developing individual state initiatives and assembling the appropriate team and resources
  • Organizing conference calls and meetings
  • Establishing and maintaining action registers for State CRT issues
  • Following up to ensure committed actions have been completed
  • Communicating with and coordinating members of the NCART Payer Relations Committee
  • Providing regular written and verbal updates
  • Providing content information regarding State initiatives for the website, podcasts, webinars, presentations, and NCART Newsletter
  • Performing other related duties as may be assigned
