The Ohio Budget bill past last July 09 (HB1) included a required Durable Medical Equipment Study. (See attached) Below is the key content. The Department (Medicaid) shall do the following: (A) Identify the types of durable medical equipment that represent, in total, greater than fifty per cent of the state's total Medicaid expenditures for durable Medical equipment; (B) Consult with durable medical equipment suppliers to identify cost-saving strategies; (C) Evaluate oppotunties for competitive purchasing procedures for durable medical equipment. The report prepared under this section shall include recommrndations on strategies to reduce the Medicaid program's costs for durable medical equipment. The report shall be submitted not latter than July 1, 2010. The state assoc OAMES has a workgroup meeting with Medicaid April 14, 2010 to discuss this study.
